Start Date: November 2022

End Date: April 2023

Partners: Sun Pier House, KMWA

Description:

Working with Sun Pier House Gallery and KMWA, we will deliver access to the arts for people who do not have a recognisable avenue so far.

It is a project that addresses – Integration, Inclusion and Social Isolation for young and older people by introducing them to all types of art and music. We will take groups from at least 6 primary schools across Medway to Sun Pier House (a not-for-profit organisation, working to support artists and creative industries in Medway) to meet resident artists and learn about their work. Most of the children will not have experienced art in any form so it will stimulate and encourage their future participation. On a number of these visits we will invite older isolated people, some with dementia, to join the children at SPH and also learn from the experience.

November 2022 we will book the Riverside Gallery at SPH allowing young Muslim artists to show the work in a display of Islamic Art, Music and Culture and at the same time the children from the schools will also have the opportunity to display their work. Children will then experience different culture as well as the newness of art. We will book a series of musicians from all walks of life to play for the children, older visitors and the general public. We also have the facility to run barge rides from Tiller and Wheel, a partner project to SPH. This is to the allow children and older visitors to experience our great River Medway, something that they will otherwise not experience.
